The Board of Education exists to serve as a liaison agency between our Eaton County area constituent districts and the State Department of Education and to provide those programs and services requested by the constituent districts or mandated by the state.
The Board of Education is comprised of five members who are elected for six-year terms by representatives of Eaton ISD's constituent districts. Elections are held in June. Board meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month.

The Board meets monthly. Special meetings are called whenever necessary. A written notice of regular and special meetings will be posted at the administration building (1790 E Packard Hwy, Charlotte) at least 72 hours before the scheduled meeting time. The written notice will show the date, time, and place of each meeting. In emergencies, a meeting may be held with two hours notice.
All meetings are open to the public. In certain circumstances, Michigan law permits the Board to go into a closed session. Closed session may occur for such matters as discussing prospective gifts or donations, real-property acquisition, certain personnel matters including employee complaints, security matters, student discipline, or to consult with attorneys regarding pending litigation.
Board meetings are schedule on every third Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the EISD Administration Building (1790 E Packard Hwy, Charlotte). Times, dates, and location may be adjusted by action of the Board.
The EISD Board has four major functions:
